Understanding the Analysis

The Hurst Cycles indicators perform an expert analysis, but you need to understand what it all means!

Background

Fifty years ago an American aeronautical engineer discovered that financial markets are moved by cycles.

  • The concept of his program started in 1978 as a by-product of research into the cyclical nature of vibration in aircraft components.
  • An engineer with a background in aerospace technology had the idea for the math behind the program, and John envisioned the actual application of the math to the markets.
  • The program was tested on historical data, and the forecasting results proved so valuable that it launched a lifetime quest to develop the technology that John is launching today ... nearly 40 years later!
  • Over the years, John's analysis has been the subject of international publications, market newsletters and brokerage firm research reports. His clients have included Goldman Sachs, Coca-Cola, and other major U.S. financial and corporate entities.
  • He has also been published many times in Futures Magazine and writes a regular feature for Modern Trader Magazine.
  • Now, for the first time ever ... this software is being made available to the Hurst cycles community.

This video

In this brief Introduction video by John Rawlins you will see the software in action. The video shows a 240-minute (4 hour) chart of the ES e-mini futures, played back at high speed. The cycle indicator at the foot of the chart shows:

  • A white "detrended" price line moves between the lower and upper bands of the cycle oscillator
  • The center line of the cycle oscillator shows whether the cycles are influencing the price to move up or down.
  • Opportunity zones appear when the white detrended price line approaches the upper or lower oscillator lines.
  • Projected turning points in the future, showing when the cycles will influence the markets to turn.
